(VOVworld) – Iran reopened its embassy in London after the British embassy in Iran was reopened on Sunday. The two countries will appoint ambassadors in the coming days.

Iran’s Charge d’affaires Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzeded and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Danesh Yazdi attended the reopening ceremony in London while British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond attended the ceremony in Tehran. The event marked a breakthrough in 4 years of efforts to unfreeze bilateral diplomatic ties. Hammond will hold a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
