(VOVworld) – The British Embassy in Cairo suspended public services on Sunday for security reasons and announced no specific time for resuming.

British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson said embassy officials are working with Egyptian authorities to resume public services as soon as possible. He added that the office of the British Consulate-General in Alexandria is operating normally. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said the suspension of the British embassy office in Cairo is “just a precautionary measure”, but it did not give details. The British Embassy said previous attacks in Egypt have mostly targeted government buildings and recommended that British tourists not travel to North Sinai, which shares a border with Israel, and advised against traveling within 50km of the Libya border.
