This move follows US President Donald Trump’s signing of an executive order to extend the suspension of additional tariffs on Chinese goods. According to the Ministry’s statement, China will maintain the current 10% tariff rate while taking steps to remove non-tariff barriers on US goods.
The decision was made at the bilateral tariff negotiation held in Stockholm, Sweden. The previous suspension was set to expire on Tuesday but will now be extended until mid-November, with both sides keeping existing tariff rates unchanged.
On Monday, President Trump said he might permit Nvidia to sell its next-generation advanced GPU chips in China, but only if their performance is scaled down.
His remarks came after Nvidia agreed to pay the US government 15% of its revenue from AI chip sales in China in exchange for permission to export H20 chips to the country.
