Chinese cartoonist transcribes “Prison Diary” for pictures

(VOVWORLD) -Chinese female writer and cartoonist Ji Jian Fang has transcribed President Ho Chi Minh’s poetry book "Prison Diary" for pictures because of what she said her respect for the noble personality, extraordinary willpower and ironclad poems of the Vietnamese President.

Ji started drawing on May 11, 2022 and it took her nearly six and a half months to complete the entire collection of poems. She said she admires President Ho Chi Minh so much as even in prison, his poems exude a strong will, desire to live, faith and strong revolutionary optimism.
“In his poetry, President Ho Chi Minh did not use elegant, strange or lofty words, but every sentence and every word is so simple. Behind that simplicity is optimism and great love. That revolutionary spirit makes me, as a posterity, deeply admire him. I am grateful that he left behind such a precious spiritual wealth for future generations.”
According to author Ji Jian Fang, President Ho Chi Minh's poems give her strength and show the resilient fighting will of Vietnamese revolutionaries.
In 1943, revolutionary activist Nguyen Ai Quoc, who later became President Ho Chi Minh, wrote Prison Diary consisting of more than 100 poems in Chinese featuring his arduous journey of nearly 14 months (August 1942-September 1943) of detention and transferred to multiple prisons in China's Guangxi province.
