Mr. Phat said: “We have to identify the areas we want to draw investment into including agricultural processing and trading. Besides stable policies, the state will have to perform a lot of related work.”

Overseas Vietnamese businesspeople pointed out the advantages and challenges to agricultural exporters, including technical standardized production, food hygiene and safety, and building trademarks. They expected the state to have more incentive policies for overseas Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the homeland. Dinh Kim Nguyet, a Vietnamese-Canadian, said: “Overseas Vietnamese should decisively invest in the homeland. We’ll resolve the difficulties together. There is demand and we can supply what they want.”

Vietnam’s agricultural growth rate was 3.3% last year and earned 3.1 billion USD from exports.
