Cuban ambassador calls March 15 election a crucial step propelling Vietnam into a new era
(VOVWORLD) - The upcoming National Assembly and People's Council election scheduled for Sunday is a crucial step in realizing the strategic goals of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, leading Vietnam into a new era of development, said the Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam in an interview with a Vietnam News Agency reporter prior to the election.

Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes praised the election preparations, particularly the extensive public consultation and rigorous candidate selection.
The election will consolidate the political system and enhance leadership capacity in the new era, Mr. Fuentes said. He pointed out that this election is taking place at a moment when Vietnam has just completed the reorganization and merger of provincial and commune-level administrative units.
The Ambassador said he expects the new National Assembly and elected bodies to quickly begin implementing the 3 strategic breakthroughs set forth by the 14th Party Congress – institutional reform, human resource development, and infrastructure development – and revitalize cooperation between the two countries in sharing their legislative and social management experience.
