(VOVWORLD) - The US Department of State said it continues working to bring home Americans from the Middle East, after more than 9,000 people, including 300 in Israel, returned home safely in recent days.
Several other countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania, are also urgently evacuating their citizens. Hundreds of Czech nationals have returned to Prague, while about 100 Slovak citizens and 300 Romanian nationals have been evacuated via Egypt.
Russia reported that it has evacuated citizens from Iran to Azerbaijan and a small number from Egypt back home. France, which has around 400,000 citizens in the Middle East, has organized two repatriation flights. Other European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Spain have also announced repatriation plans.
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions in the Middle East are assessing citizens’ needs to return home in order to draw up appropriate plans.
