China to send envoy to Middle East for mediation
(VOVWORLD) - China will send a special envoy to the Middle East for mediation, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday, as the escalating conflict involving Iran enters its 5th day.

Wang made the statement during separate phone calls with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Wang said China appreciates the UAE’s peace efforts and commends the statement of the 50th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council, which reaffirmed dialogue and diplomacy as the sole path to resolving the current crisis and preserving regional security.
