The event was jointly organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the British Embassy in Vietnam and the Kondras Adenauer Stiftung Foundation.
Dialogue participants reviewed the effects of sea level rise on coastal nations, underscored the importance of following international law, and suggested ways to cope with sea level rise from national, regional and global perspectives.
Experts expressed concerns over claims that run counter to the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling on the Philippines' lawsuit in 2016.
They stressed the importance of maintaining rules-based maritime order in the Indo-Pacific and urged ASEAN to reach a consensus on the right of marine navigation.
