(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese businesses on Tuesday donated 7.8 million USD and 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to help contain the spread of the virus in the country.

The donors include T&T Group, Ecopark Group, Hoa Phat Group, PetroVietnam, DOJI Group, TPBANK, Phenikaa Company, SHB and An Phat Holdings.
Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long praised the contributions and called on businesses to join the health sector in combating COVID-19.
He said Vietnam is mobilizing all resources to vaccinate as many people as possible and as soon as possible. In addition to importing COVID-19 vaccines.
Vietnam is gearing up to produce homegrown vaccines by 2022, Minister Long added.
