EU Chief Von der Leyen wins second term
(VOVWORLD) - The European Parliament elected Ursula von der Leyen President of the European Commission in a secret ballot on Thursday. This will be her second term as ECPresident.

Von der Leyen needed 361 votes to win a majority of the 720 MEPs. She received 401 vote in favor, 284 against, and 15 invalid votes. Von der Leyen said she will create a new commissioner to tackle Europe's housing crisis, strengthen the EU's border agency Frontex, triple the number of border guards, and reinforce the bloc's efforts against disinformation.
Other challenges Ms. von der Leyen will face in hernew term are the crisis in Ukraine, the risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East, and the EU's trade tensions with China.
