Expectations for Egypt’s new President

(VOVworld) – Celebration continues across Egypt as the country elected its first President. The Electoral Committee announced Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Bortherhood defeated his rival Amed Shafig to win in the country’s second round of presidential election to become Egypt’s first democratically elected president on June 24th. Hours after being sworn in, Mohamed Morsi vowed late Sunday to represent all Egyptians, and he urged his countrymen to put aside their differences and come together for the common good. He added that there is no difference between Christians and Muslims and national unity is the only way to get Egypt out of this difficult crisis.
