The explosion occurred after Russia launched missile attacks across Ukraine on Tuesday. But the Russian Defense Ministry denied that any Russian missile had struck Polish territory, describing such reports as "deliberate provocation aimed at escalating the situation".

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki immediately convened an emergency meeting of the Committee for National Security and Defense. Cabinet spokesman Piotr Mueller would not confirm any reports, but said Polish leaders are holding an emergency meeting to address the issue.

A Pentagon spokesman said the US is following the missile strikes reported in Poland adding that the US would defend the territory of NATO members.
