Foreign delegations, Vietnamese people pay respects to Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong

(VOVWORLD) -  Respect-paying ceremonies for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is open on Friday at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi, Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and his hometown in Lai Da village, Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

The respect-paying ceremony is taking place from 7am to 1pm on Friday. The memorial service will be held at 1pm at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi on Friday, which will be followed by the burial ceremony at 3pm on the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi.

Since this morning, thousands of people have been queuing to pay tribute to the Party leader and share their love and respect to him.

"The General Secretary was an exceptionally wise leader, particularly in his dedication to creating a prosperous, strong, fair, democratic, and civilized society. We wish to pay our last respect, no matter how long we have to wait."

"The General Secretary was very calm and close to the people. Uncle Trong accomplished so many achievements for the people."

"We came here to pay our respects and have been queuing since 1 AM. We love Uncle Trong deeply and just want to bid last farewell to him."

As of 9:00 a.m. Friday morning, the Organizing Committee reported that, in addition to thousands of attendees, 26 delegations from localities, associations, unions, and international organizations came to pay respect to the Party leader.

These included a Malaysian delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister, a Philippine delegation, and a delegation from the British Communist Party, all paying their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Funeral Hall.

At Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, early this morning, people quietly and patiently lined up, waiting to bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, the General Secretary's hometown, about 100 groups registered to pay their respects from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday.

According to the Organizing Committee, from 7 am to 7:30 pm on Thursday, more than 1,560 delegations of about 55,600 people came to pay their respects, sent wreaths, and condolences to the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
