Foreign retailers expand Vietnam operation

(VOVWORLD) - Japanese eyewear retailer Jins opened its first store in Vietnam last month, choosing Ho Chi Minh City as its launchpad, with locations at Saigon Centre and planned expansion to Aeon Mall Binh Tan and Aeon Mall Tan Phu.

“Vietnam marks an important milestone in Jins’ global expansion journey," Atsushi Ogawa, General Director of Jins Vietnam, told insideretail.com, “Jins aims to establish a sustainable presence in Vietnam while contributing to the growth of the eyewear market through quality, innovation, and a customer-centered experience.”

MUJI, another Japanese retailer, recently upgraded its flagship store at Parkson Le Thanh Ton in Ho Chi Minh City to over 3,300 square meters, making this venue its largest in Vietnam and third-largest in Southeast Asia. After five years operating in Vietnam, MUJI now has 17 stores and is targeting a presence in Da Nang and raising its Vietnam stores to 20 next year.

Earlier this month, Central Retail Corporation of Thailand completed the renovation of a supermarket into a shopping mall in Hanoi, covering more than 35,000 square meters. Central Retail plans to open an additional 10–12 shopping centers and 23–25 GO! supermarkets over the next three years.

Meanwhile, Aeon, a Japanese retail company, has just opened a new supermarket in Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. "The opening of AEON Binh Dương Midori Park represents the next step in scaling the Super Supermarket model in new urban areas, aiming to expand the business to more than three times its current scale by 2030," said Tezuka Daisuke, Executive Officer, Chief Vietnam Business Officer of Aeon.
