(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of Vietnam and Cuba reviewed past cooperation between the two countries and discussed measures to improve collaboration during talks in Havana on Thursday.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz told Party General Secretary and President To Lam that he will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to operate and contribute to Cuba’s economy. The Vietnamese top leader suggested that both sides make use of the bilateral trade agreement to raise two-way trade to 500 million USD in the next five years.
The two sides agreed to promote research and expand cooperation in various fields, including agriculture and food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical services, digital transformation, and innovation.

Meeting with President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez, Mr. Lam reiterated Vietnam’s consistent stance of maintaining solidarity with Cuba and strongly supporting its revolution, and calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba.
Mr. Hernandez said Cuba always attaches importance to and wants to deepen the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.
