Hue City help fishermen decommission fishing vessels for failing to meet operation requirements
(VOVWORLD) - Hue city has helped fishermen decommission 103 fishing vessels that did not meet operation requirements, including 59 boats without registration, fishing licenses, or inspection certificates and 44 vessels that failed to meet inspection and licensing standards.

Under the support program, vessel owners are supported and encouraged to dismantle their boats, convert them to other uses, or permanently cease operations. The total estimated budget is around 608,000 USD, with nearly one-third allocated to vocational training for crew members.
Tran Quang Nhat, Director of Hue City’s Fisheries Sub-department, said “Hue city is currently implementing various programs to support job replacement for fishermen whose fishing vessels that are no longer qualified to operate under the Fisheries Law and regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. These efforts aim to contribute to the national goal of lifting the EU’s yellow card. With 103 vessels affected, the city is committed to helping fishermen in job replacement."
