Thai Prime Minister, US President discuss reducing Thailand–Cambodian border tensions

(VOVWORLD) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held a phone call with US President Trump on Friday to discuss the Thailand–Cambodia border situation, sharing a common desire for peace and de-escalation.

Speaking to the press in Bangkok afterward, Prime Minister Anutin said the conversation took place in a positive atmosphere.

US President Trump expressed concern over rising tensions and emphasized Washington’s readiness to maintain close communication with Thailand at all times.

Thailand acknowledged and shared the common aspiration for peace and an end to conflict.

President Trump voiced hope that peace would soon be restored based on the Joint Declaration on the Peace Roadmap signed by Thailand and Cambodia on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit in late October 2025.
