The Prime Minister expressed anguish over the loss of the Navy's frontline submarine, INS Sindhurakshak in an accident in which 18 soldiers are feared to have lost their lives. The Prime Minister spoke highly of the economic reforms in 1991 under the leadership of Shri Narsimha Rao. These reforms were opposed by many political parties at that time but they were in the national interest and were therefore continued by all governments that came to power subsequently. Since then, the reform process has continued to move forward.
