Pope Leo XIV calls for global truce on Christmas Day

(VOVWORLD) - Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday renewed his call for all parties to respect a worldwide truce on Christmas Day, saying it could help create conditions for peace and dialogue.

Speaking to reporters at his residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome, Leo called on all people of good will to respect a day of peace, at least on the feast of the birth of Saviour.

Multiple conflicts continue around the world, including in Ukraine, where diplomatic progress is proving difficult, even though high-ranking representatives from Russia and Ukraine have met separately with US officials to seek a resolution.
