This is the first formal special meeting between India and China in five years, after their soldiers clashed in Ladakh in June, 2020.
At the meeting, special representatives from India and China agreed on the importance of maintaining a political perspective on the relationship, pledged to seek a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution to the border issue, and resolved to accelerate the process.
The two sides said they keep implementing the latest disengagement agreement, reached in October 2024, leading to the restoration of border patrols and grazing in specified areas.
They also agreed to continue refining the rules for border management and control, strengthening confidence-building measures, and fostering lasting peace and tranquility along the border.
