Iran test-fires Noor long-range missile
The Iranian navy test-fired a Noor long-range missile Tuesday during an ongoing naval drill, the official IRNA news agency reported. Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, a spokesman for the military exercises, was quoted as saying that the surface-to-surface missile hit the target "successfully" on the fifth day of the six-day naval drill dubbed Velayat 91. Rastegari added that the upgraded version of the Noor missile, designed and manufactured by Iranian army experts, can be used to target military vessels. During the Velayat 90 wargames in 2011, a Noor missile tested improvements in its electronic guidance systems.

Earlier, on the drill’s third day, the Iran navy test-fired a series of weapons including its home-made Raad air defense system. Raad, which has launched 50km-range rockets capable of hitting targets at 22 km, was designed to fight against cruise missiles, smart bombs, helicopters, and unmanned aircraft. Rategari said Iran was successful in testing torpedoes, underwater missiles, and other surface-to-surface missiles.
