ITSI fund launched to help Vietnam join global semiconductor supply chain

(VOVWORLD) - The International Technology Security & Innovation (ITSI) Fund, an initiative of the US CHIPS and Science Act designed to enhance semiconductor capabilities and supply chain resilience worldwide, was launched in Hanoi on Wednesday as part of activities to mark one-year anniversary of the signing of Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last September.

ITSI Senior Coordinator Virginia Kent said the government-funded initiative aims to improve business environments, expand skilled workforces, and refine regulatory frameworks to build a resilient global assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP) supply chain.
She said from the ITSI fund’s perspective, Vietnam is a critical partner – one of eight in the ITSI program.

"We are looking to Vietnam, especially in the ATP area. We feel that there's an immense opportunity here for Vietnamese, US, and other partner companies to extend the investment that's already here. We see this vibrant, growing ATP area of the semiconductor supply chain, but we also have great ideas for expanding that into new investment in Vietnam. The program that we're launching today speaks to the partnership that Vietnam's government has put toward this initiative and their commitment,” according to Ms. Kent.
The fund will open up tremendous opportunities for Vietnamese students and professionals to gain cutting-edge skills in semiconductor technology, said Ms. Kent.
