Japan holds House of Representatives election

(VOV) - Japanese voters started to cast their ballots to choose a new House of Representatives on Sunday morning at 49,000 polling stations nationwide. 1504 candidates of 12 parties will run for the 480 seats House of Representatives election. The vote boxes will be sealed at 8:00 p.m. local time and the result is expected on early Monday at earliest.

The election will show whether or not the ruling Democratic Party can maintain its power or the Liberate Democratic Party will take back power after its failure in the 2009 election.
