Juncker will have to survive a vote on his action program at the European Parliament which is scheduled for July 16th. Juncker is a member of the political group- European People's Party (EPP). Britain still opposes Juncker because of his stance to expand EU power.

Among 28 EU member states, Britain and Hungary voted against the nomination. Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron warned EU leaders that they may regret the appointment, saying the decision will increase support by British voters who want the country to leave the EU. According to Cameron, what the EU needs is a reform but the former Luxembourg prime minister is not suitable to carry out the reform. All British newspapers on Friday reported Britain would leave the EU if Juncker is elected.
