Local authorities extend Christmas greetings to Catholics

(VOVworld) – Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, has praised achievements made by the northern Protestant Church of Vietnam in the past year. She expressed her hope that the Church will further develop and contribute to the city’s development. She made the appeal during her Thursday visit to the northern Protestant Church and the Archdiocese of Hanoi where she extended Christmas greetings to Protestants.

The same day, Ha Tinh provincial authorities visited and presented gifts to the Bishop’s Office of the Vinh Archdiocese (Nghe An). Also on this occasion, the people’s committee of Can Loc district in the central province of Ha Tinh organized a meeting to honor Catholics who are party members with significant contributions to society.
In another development, delegates to a Friday conference reviewing the patriotic emulation movements of Hanoi’s Catholic followers agreed that 2013 saw practical and effective activities by Catholics contributing to the city’s socio-economic development. Reports at the conference, organized by Hanoi’s Committee for Catholic Solidarity, stated that 100% of Catholics in Hanoi have followed the Party and State’s policies and guidelines while supporting each other to improve their living conditions.
