Minister of Industry and Trade works with major US corporations

(VOVWORLD) -Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien held working meetings with leaders of multiple trade groups on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of his ongoing trip to the US.

Addressing Tuesday’s session with leaders of Exxon Mobil, Dien praised the company’s cooperation and commitment to providing Vietnam with a reliable energy supply while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, contributing toward the goal of carbon neutrality. The Minister asked Exxon Mobil to continue implementing the Blue Whale Mine Exploitation Project in accordance with the signed contract.

While working with leaders of Nike, Mr. Dien shared concerns about the impact of current tariff policies on Nike’s global supply chain and on US consumer interests. He proposed ways to support Nike’s operations in Vietnam.

At the working session with the representatives of Walmart, the world’s largest retail corporation, Minister Dien asked the retailer to expand its procurement of high value-added and environmentally friendly products of Vietnam, and consider establishing a strategic sourcing hub.

Leaders of Exxon Mobil, Nike, and Walmart applauded Vietnam’s recent reforms in the business and investment environment, pledged to convey positive messages about Vietnam to the White House, the Office of the US’s Trade Representative (USTR), the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Energy to support Vietnam in its negotiations with the US.

On Wednesday, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien met with Senator Roger Marshall, a Republican representing the state of Kansas, and an influential voice in the US on economic, trade, and agricultural issues.
