NA Chairman concludes Russia visit

(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Wednesday morning, concluding his official visit to Russia, where he also co-chaired the third meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

The trip from September 8-10 was made at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin, and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko.

During the visit, Man met with President Vladimir Putin, and held talks with Volodin and Matvienko.
The host leaders expressed their belief that following the visit, high-level parliamentary meetings will take place more regularly, creating a firm foundation for and significantly contributing to the development of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
On this occasion, Man and Matvienko signed a cooperation agreement between the NA and the Federation Council, and witnessed the signing of another deal between Vietnam’s southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Rostov region of Russia.
Meanwhile, Man and Volodin co-chaired the third meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
The joint statement issued at the end of the meeting affirmed both sides’ readiness for cooperation in law-making and ensuring the effective implementation of agreements reached by the two countries as well as their leaders in order to foster the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Man hosted receptions for Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF); Sergey Mironov, Chairman of A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth (SR) party; and representatives of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Association of Russian Veterans in Vietnam.
He also met with representatives of big Russian groups like Gazprom and Novatek, the Governor of Rostov region, and representatives of the Vietnamese business association in Russia, and witnessed the exchange of a number of signed documents between Vietnamese and Russian businesses.
