NA Chairman meets Laos’ top leader

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese legislature continues to support and assist Laos in successfully assuming the Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 45).

Chairman Man met on Wednesday with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, who is  paying a state-level visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Man said Vietnam is ready to share experiences and provide professional support in issues where Vietnam has strengths. He stressed the need to conduct thematic discussions and exchange experiences between the two National Assembly, focusing on legislative research, amending the Constitution, and socio-economic development policies.

The top legislator proposed that the two countries continue to coordinate to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, remove obstacles, and find new ways for effective and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Both emphasized that the two sides need to continue to strengthen supervision of investment cooperation projects, consider and support necessary amendments and supplements to mechanisms, policies and laws to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
