National Assembly to elect President of Vietnam in October

(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly will elect new State President at its session in October in accordance with the Party Central Committee’s resolution, NA General Secretary Bui Van Cuong said on Monday.

At a press conference after the Assembly’s extraordinary session on Monday, Cuong said the 8th extraordinary session was a success with personnel elected or approved with high confidence.

Chairwoman of the NA’s Committee for Deputy Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hai said the Party Central Committee plans to focus on consolidating the positions of senior leadership, and those of the party committees and administrations at all levels until the end of this year.

The move aims at enhancing the Party’s leadership over the development of the economy, culture, defense-security, and foreign affairs, and preparing for Party congresses at all levels towards to the 14th National Party Congress, she said.

Hai added that the personnel consolidation also helps ensure a complete political system that operates more strongly and effectively, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, improving people’s life, strengthening the ties with the people, and consolidating their confidence in the Party and State.
