(VOVworld)- The National Electoral Council convened its first session in Hanoi on Saturday.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is also President of the Council, stressed the important tasks the Council has to fulfill until the results of the elections of the National Assembly and People’s Councils are announced in July, 2016. Hung pointed out changes of the elections including the role and functions of the National Electoral Council and the need to strengthen coordination with state management agencies and local authorities at various levels to ensure the success of the elections. At the meeting, the council’s members discussed a number of documents on its operation. They set up 3 sub-committees including a Sub-Committee for Personnel and Settlement of Denunciations and Complaints, a Sub-Committee for legal documents and information, communications and a Sub-Committee for social order and securit.
