(VOVworld) – The Steering Committee of the national target program on new rural development has reviewed three years of the implementation of the program and discussed solutions for next year. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh chaired the meeting in Hanoi on Thursday.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat said new rural development is a Party policy that depends on public trust and has had a positive response across the entire political system in the past three years. A steering mechanism has been set up and policies adopted to accelerate the program. As a result, rural areas have upgraded their infrastructure, strengthened their local political system, and improved people’s living conditions. To date, 185 communes have met the new rural standards, and around 600 communes have completed 15 to 18 of the 19 criteria.
