(VOVworld) – Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai, welcomed the new US Ambassador in Vietnam Ted Osius on Monday on the occasion of his new working term in Vietnam.

During the reception, Hai spoke highly of the growing relations between Vietnam and the US, adding both countries should step forward to further the bilateral ties on the basis of mutual respect and benefits. More particularly, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to boost cooperation with the US in economics, trade, education, and health care.
Ambassador Osius proposed cooperation in shipping and transport infrastructure and pledged his contributions to improving the relations between Vietnam and the US. He expressed his belief that when two countries become members of Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, the US expects to be Vietnam’s leading partner in economy and trade.
