Party chief and president pays tribute to late artists

(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary and President To Lam visited and gave gifts to the families of late musician Van Cao and late painter Bui Trang Chuoc, the legends of Vietnamese music and painting, on Monday, the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Talking with the family of the late musician Van Cao, To Lam expressed gratitude for the great contributions of the late musician to the Vietnamese revolution. He affirmed that in addition to the National Anthem, Van Cao created many other pieces of music that have inspired generations of Vietnamese and made an important contribution to building the great national solidarity.

During a visit to the family of the late painter Bui Trang Chuoc, author of the National Emblem of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the top leader affirmed that the artist's merits and contributions, especially the design of the National Emblem, have won domestic and international acclaim.

Van Cao, whose real name is Nguyen Van Cao, was born in 1923. He composed the National Anthem and other everlasting songs such as "Spring Wharf", "Dream Stream", "Thien Thai", "Truong Chi", "The Epic of Lo River", and "Marching to Hanoi".

Bui Trang Chuoc's real name is Nguyen Van Chuoc. He was born in 1915 and became one of Vietnam’s most talented painters. His works include sketches of the National Emblem, postage stamps, banknotes, and landscape paintings. His sketch of the National Emblem has been recognized as a National Treasure.
