Party General Secretary To Lam begins a state visit to Kazakhstan

(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Astana Airport on Monday, officially beginning his state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from May 5-7, at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At a meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Kazakhstan, Mr. Lam expressed his pleasure at visiting Kazakhstan for the first time in his current role, calling it a significant milestone in the traditional friendship between the two countries.

“Cooperation with Kazakhstan is one of Vietnam's strategic cooperation in expanding the country's development in the new era. It’s more important that Kazakhstan’s vision and development orientation have something similar to Vietnam's and they also want to proactively coordinate with us as a bridge in the process of cooperation with Central Asian countries.”

Mr. Lam praised the Vietnamese community in Kazakhstan for their integration into local society, as well as their solidarity and efforts to preserve national identity. He acknowledged the contributions of the Vietnamese People's Association and the Young Vietnamese Intellectuals' Association in Kazakhstan, calling on them to continue promoting their role as important bridges connecting the community with the homeland.

At a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev in Astana on Monday, Mr. Lam said that Vietnam wishes to exchange experiences with Kazakhstan to complement each other’s development, and that bilateral relations will serve as a bridge connecting the two countries to Europe and Asia, contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Mr. Ashimbayev affirmed that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, and that the Kazakhstan Senate will actively support the cooperative orientations agreed upon by both countries’ leaders.
