Party leader leaves for a state visit to Myanmar after visiting Indonesia
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left for a state visit to Myanmar on Thursday after wrapping his official visit to Indonesia.
This will be the first visit by a Vietnamese Party leader to Myanmar in 20 years since Party leader Do Muoi’s visit in 1997. The visit marks an important milestone in the Vietnam-Myanmar friendship and multifaceted cooperation. It will create momentum for better bilateral ties.

Before leaving Jakarta, Mr. Trong sent a message to thank Indonesia President Joko Widodo. The Party leader expressed his belief that the outcomes of his visit would deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, strengthen political trust, and consolidate bilateral friendship and cooperation.
During his visit to Indonesia, Party leader Trong attended a banquette hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his address, Mr. Trong said he hoped foreign investors including Indonesian investors will increase their investment in Vietnam. At a reception for the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association, he urged the Association to further contribute to enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, enterprises, and localities.
