Party leader stresses defense industry’s development towards autonomy, modernity
(VOVWORLD) -To achieve the goal of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Army, special attention has been paid to developing the defense industry towards autonomy and modernity, said Party General Secretary To Lam at a ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Defense Industry (September 15) in Hanoi on Monday.

The Party leader requested that the Central Military Commission and the Defense Ministry lead and direct the General Department of Defense Industry to regularly disseminate, seriously and effectively implement the directions and policies of the Party, State and Army on defense industry development as well as combine defense and economy.
Central ministries and sectors must pay special attention to and create favorable conditions for the Army to carry out tasks of developing defense industry, he said.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the General Department of Defense Industry.
