(VOVWORLD) -Gia Lai province needs to develop its economy in a profound, comprehensive and inclusive manner based on high-tech, organic and sustainable agriculture, Party General Secretary To Lam said on Monday.

Mr. Lam chaired a working session with key leaders of the province on the results of implementing the Party's Resolutions on socio-economic development in the locality and preparations for Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
He acknowledged the efforts and results that Gia Lai province has achieved and stressed the need to boost industrialization and modernization of rural agriculture in a systematic manner, coupled with the protection of natural resources and biodiversity.
Gia Lai should develop selective industries based on the locality's outstanding comparative advantages and develop tourism into a green economy, a spearhead, sustainable, high-quality and distinctive economic sector, bearing the identity of the Central Highlands, said Party General Secretary To Lam said.
“The province needs to strongly improve the investment and business environment to be transparent, favorable, and low-cost, develop the digital economy and innovation, improve transport infrastructure connecting urban areas, momentum regions, raw material regions, economic centers, irrigation infrastructure, infrastructure of industries, services, and tourism development.”
The Party leader also called on Gia Lai to closely link economic development with ensuring security, national defense, firmly protect national sovereignty, territory, border security, and effectively prevent infiltration, smuggling, and cross-border crimes.
Earlier on Monday, General Secretary Lam presented a medical station project worth 200,000 USD to Glar commune, Dak Doa district, so that the locality can take better health care for ethnic minorities living in the area.
