At a press briefing in Hanoi on Tuesday, Trung said the 2-day visit, Lam's first foreign trip since his election as General Secretary of the 13th CPV Central Committee, included 18 key activities including talks with Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and meetings with other key Chinese leaders and officials.

During the meetings, the top leaders of the two Parties and countries affirmed respect for bilateral relationship, considering each other top strategic priority in their foreign policies.
The two sides agreed to maintain high-level strategic dialogues and promote orientations to realize bilateral agreements and common perceptions including agreements reached between late Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping over the past ten years.
Trung said apart from the joint statement on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future, 16 practical cooperation agreements were signed, covering various fields.
According to Trung, a highlight of the visit was a tour of Guangzhou in Guangdong province marking the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s arrival in Guangzhou as an international advisor to the Communist International. This provided an opportunity for both sides to reminisce about the traditional friendship, solidarity, and mutual support between the two Parties, countries, and their people, laying a stronger social foundation for the bilateral relationship.
Trung said General Secretary and President To Lam's visit was successful, realizing Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification and its policy of respecting and prioritizing ties with China.
