The 12 billion USD project chain is the largest in Vietnam, with a gas output of more than 5 billion cubic meters per year, supplying four O Mon thermal power plants in Can Tho city with a combined capacity of 3,800 MW.

This project chain plays a vital role in the national strategy of balancing energy supply and demand, ensuring energy security, fostering socio-economic development, and safeguarding Vietnam's sovereignty over sea and islands.

PM Chinh said the Vietnamese government is strongly committed to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry, particularly the gas sector, adding that investments in offshore and deep-water oil and gas exploration on the Vietnamese continental shelf are encouraged.
