PM Chính’s visit to bring about positive results for both sides: Indian scholar

(VOVWORLD) -The state visit to India by Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính from Tuesday to Thursday will yield positive results for the relationship between the two countries, Professor Srikanth Kondapalli of Jawaharlal Nehru University said in New Delhi.

Within the framework of the visit, several events will be organized and agreements will be signed, helping to expand bilateral relations, strengthen institutions and diplomatic ties on global and regional issues, boost trade and investment, and enhance defense and security relations, he said.

PM Chinh's trip will advance the comprehensive strategic partnership established by the two countries’ leaders in 2016 at a time when both countries are positioning themselves in the era of globalization, with India and Vietnam actively pursuing their national development strategies.

By achieving higher economic growth rates, restructuring their economies, and coordinating efforts in multilateral economic institutions and regional initiatives, such as the Mekong-Ganges Cooperation, India and Vietnam are on track to realize their national development strategies.

As bilateral trade and investment are still modest, the Vietnamese PM's visit could open up business cooperation opportunities and enhance interactions between Vietnam’s renewal and India's economic liberalization, said Kondapalli.

Vietnam and India are upholding peace and prosperity, the rule of law, maritime safety, and the central role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), he said, adding that these diplomatic efforts are positive signs for the expansion of bilateral relations in the near future.
