Speaking at the first Party Congress of the Ministry of Construction in Hanoi on Tuesday, the PM emphasized the need to finalize and secure approval for major investment projects such as the North-South high-speed railway and the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway, and to complete the planned coastal road system.
“The mindset must change, and bold action must be taken. With over 3,000 kilometers of coastline, we possess enormous potential in maritime and inland waterway transport - sectors that require relatively modest investment yet remain underutilized. Maritime transport offers clear advantages, including minimal land clearance,” said Mr. Chinh.
The PM called on the Ministry to prioritize technology transfer and workforce development for the railway sector and to build modern, green, and smart cities resilient to climate change.
He also stressed the need to expand smart urban and intelligent transport systems, and issued a determined call to complete at least 100,000 social housing units this year.
