(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam national men’s football team’s brilliant performance has delighted Vietnamese people at home and abroad, and international friends, as well as inspired the nation to rise to conquer new heights, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Chinh on Monday met, commended and rewarded the team for winning the Southeast Asian Football Championship (ASEAN Cup) 2024.
At the meeting in Hanoi, he emphasized that the team’s achievements are the collective efforts, the training process of the Sports and Physical Training sector and especially the support, encouragement and solidarity of more than 100 million Vietnamese people in any circumstances.
The Prime Minister said he hopes that the team will continue to train hard, overcome their own limits to achieve greater successes, reach higher goals in Asia and further the World Cup.
He awarded the First Class Labor Order to the national men's football team and the Third Class Labor Order to six individuals who performed exceptionally well at the ASEAN Cup 2024 – Nguyen Xuan Son, Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Hoang Duc, and Nguyen Dinh Trieu. The Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit was presented to 29 other individuals.
