PM urges faster progress in Mekong Delta projects
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday worked with leaders of Mekong Delta provinces and cities to review the performance of the two-tier local government system, major expressway and infrastructure projects, and the implementation of the one-million-hectare high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation program tied to green and sustainable growth.

The Prime Minister called on localities to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of administrative units. He stressed the importance of finalizing personnel arrangements, preparing for Party congresses at all levels, and simplifying administrative procedures for both citizens and businesses.
Emphasizing social and infrastructure development, Mr. Chinh directed attention to the need for accessible healthcare services, the construction of boarding schools in border and remote areas, and the expansion of digital and electricity infrastructure, especially in disadvantaged communities.
He urged all-out efforts to complete key national projects by December 19, and asked that planning for the one-million-hectare rice initiative be finalized by Q3 of 2025. He also highlighted the need to build a strong Vietnamese rice brand, combining new varieties with established ones such as ST25.
For other major projects, particularly those related to upcoming APEC events in Phu Quoc, the Prime Minister insisted they be completed quickly and in a way that reflects Vietnam’s culture, status, and technological capabilities. He also urged the timely completion of waste treatment centers, clean water facilities, and infrastructure that would serve both the APEC summit and the region’s broader development goals.
