PM Chinh delivered the order from the Government's Command Center located at the Military Region 4 Command Headquarters in Nghe An Province on Sunday evening, as storm Kajiki was forecast to make landfall in Vietnam's central region on Monday.
He warned that the intensifying typhoon could cause heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides, and widespread inundation, posing risks to mountainous, low-lying, and coastal areas.
Localities must evacuate people from areas prone to flooding, landslides, tidal surges, and riverbank erosion to safer zones, closely direct the management, regulation, and flood discharge of irrigation works and dam infrastructure to prevent overlapping floods and ensure dam safety.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was tasked with monitoring the situation and developments of the storm, coordinating to provide full and accurate information to the media about storm and flood prevention.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister inspected storm prevention and control work in Cua Lo ward, Nghe An province.
