(VOVworld) – The Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam today/ on Thursday reviewed the socio-economic situation for the first 4 months of the year.

According to its members, the global and domestic economies face a number of difficulties and challenges, therefore it is necessary to reach previously set goals as well as keep up to date with the global economic situation to control inflation and stabilize the macro-economy. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong chaired the meeting: "We need to adjust some of our goals and targets in the near future. The problem here is how to maintain a single-digit inflation rate while assuring a growth rate of 6 percent. This both controls inflation and assures growth".

The Politburo also plan to curb inflation to 8 percent this year and stabilize the macro-economy by implementing prudent and flexible monetary and fiscal policies. All agreed on the need to support businesses and promote production and business operations to maintain a growth rate of 6 percent. It is essential to enhance policies on social welfare, reduce poverty and protect our natural resources and the environment.
