President To Lam received in Hanoi on Wednesday Ambassador Xiong Bo, who came to bid farewell at the end of his working term in Vietnam. The President acknowledged and appreciated the ambassador's important contributions to Vietnam-China relations, which are becoming increasingly profound, comprehensive and substantive.

Ambassador Xiong Bo affirmed that the Chinese Party, Government and People steadfastly support Vietnam in maintaining stability and prosperous development. He said he believes that Vietnam will achieve the visions and goals of national development until the middle of this century as determined by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On maritime issues, the two sides agreed to seriously implement high-level agreements and common understandings, better control and resolve disagreements, and not let the East Sea issue affect the overall flourishing relationship between the two countries, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the wider world.
