Prime Minister orders highest readiness for typhoon Ragasa

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issues a dispatch on Tuesday urging ministers and provincial leaders from Quang Ngai northward to ensure maximum readiness  to cope with typhoon Ragasa and prioritize the safety of lives above all.

Coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa which are forecast to experience strong winds were ordered to review evacuation plans, prepare shelters, and implement necessary rescue operations.

Hai Phong Border Guards have directed all fishing vessels to return to safe harbors and arranged schools, government offices, and cultural centers as shelters for 3,000 households.

Colonel Tran Tan, Deputy Commander of Hai Phong Border Guards, said: "At present, we are maintaining full readiness. Once orders are issued, we will immediately deploy forces to assist local authorities, mobilize support, and monitor the number of vehicles entering the area. After the storm makes landfall, we will continue to reinforce our forces to maintain security and public order in the affected localities.”

In Quang Ninh province, authorities have imposed a sea ban starting Wednesday morning. By Tuesday, over 400 passenger and tourist boats and more than 4,100 fishing vessels had anchored safely, while nearly 8,000 aquaculture facilities were reinforced. Tourists on Co To, Quan Lan and Minh Chau islands were transported to the mainland, while those remaining on the islands received full support.

Over 3,000 officials and soldiers and more than 100 specialized vehicles and boats have been mobilized to help minimize casualties and property damage.
