(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei in Hanoi on Saturday, on the threshold of the Lunar New Year 2025 – the traditional new year of both Vietnamese and Chinese people.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister asked the Chinese ambassador to convey New Year greetings from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and Mr. Chinh himself to the senior leaders of the Chinese Party and State. He also congratulated China on its recent development achievements and reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of fostering friendly and cooperative relations with China, saying this relationship is a strategic choice, an objective necessity, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization , and diversification.

Ambassador He Wei said the Chinese Party and Government highly value their relationship with Vietnam, considering it a key priority in China's foreign policy toward neighboring countries. He conveyed New Year greetings and best wishes from Chinese leaders, including General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, to Vietnam's key leaders. Ambassador Ha Vi also congratulated Vietnam on its remarkable development achievements in 2024.

The two sides discussed measures to enhance cooperation across various sectors. They agreed to prioritize the effective coordination and implementation of activities for the China-Vietnam Cultural Exchange Year, marking the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1950-2025).
