Speaking at a meeting on Thursday with Mr. Klaus Zellmer, Chairman of Skoda Auto Group of the Czech Republic, who is currently visiting in Vietnam, the PM suggested that Skoda Auto Group increase localization in Vietnam, research and produce engines, components, and equipment for local manufacturers such as Truong Hai and VinFast, diversify products to include train cars, transport vehicles, and machinery for small and medium enterprises, and enhance cooperation to integrate Vietnamese businesses more deeply into Skoda and Volkswagen’s production and supply chains, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Mr. Klaus Zellmer highlighted that Skoda Auto—the largest automobile manufacturer in the Czech Republic—was privatized in 1991 and is now part of the Volkswagen Group (Germany). Currently, Skoda operates in over 100 countries, selling more than 1 million vehicles annually.

Mr. Zellmer reaffirmed Skoda’s commitment to expanding its investment and business operations in Vietnam, particularly in developing the automobile industry ecosystem through the production of batteries, components, and input equipment.

He also emphasized the importance of enhanced infrastructure, including seaports, logistics, and skilled human resources, to support the future growth of Vietnam’s automotive sector.
